Messina and the Regional Museum.

Messina and the Regional Museum.

Since its foundation, Messina has been considered “The Gate of Sicily” due to its strategic location on the homonymous Strait, and played a major role in the economy of Sicily and Southern Italy. Unfortunately, the 1908 earthquake erased almost all memories, but the Regional Museum and its experts’ work are instrumental in putting back together the history of the city; there are even two paintings by Caravaggio dating back to 1609.
Back in the city center, the bell tower at noon, the Duomo, the Church of the Catalans, the panoramic terrace of Cristo Re and the view of the Strait will surprise you.
